Fact of the Day Image Nov. 19th

Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are called “the gas giants”. The name explains what they are! They are giant and made out of gas. You may think that these giant planets have a solid surface like Earth, but that is not the case! You can’t stand or walk on these planets!

This is all because of the composition of the planets or what they are made out of. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are mostly made up of hydrogen, helium, and a little bit of smethane. They also have tiny pieces of ice combined in that mix. Gases are not solid, meaning that they can’t support anything on top of them. The thing on top of the gas will just fall through it. That is why you can’t walk on the “gas giants” of our Solar System! It is because they are made up of gas and that can’t hold someoneor something up!!
