Fact of the Day Image Dec. 24th

You might not feel it, but the Earth is actually moving at over 67,000 mph (about 108,000 kph)!! The Earth orbits or circles around the Sun. It takes about a year for the Earth to complete one full orbit around the Sun. That day is actually coming up! New Year’s Day is actually the day when we finish one full orbit around the Sun and start a new one!!

Earth orbits around the Sun because of the Sun’s powerful gravity. The powerful gravity pulls on the Earth, causing it to start orbiting or circling around the Sun. That is why Earth orbits the Sun! It goes so fast because the Sun’s powerful gravity pulls on it so much, that the energy released as Earth orbits is a lot!! That is how the Earth orbits the Sun at 67,000 mph (1about 108,000 kph)!
