Today is New Year’s Eve! The new year on Earth, 2022, is coming up!! A year on Earth is about 365 days. But, other planets in the Solar System have different year lengths. Today, we are going to look a Mercury. Mercury has the shortest year of any planet in this Solar System, 88 Earth days! The year on Mercuty is so short because it is a shorter distance to orbit the Sun. Since Mercury is the first planet, it’s orbital or circular path around the Sun is shorter, meaning that the year on Mercury will also be shorter!
That means that if you are 12 years old on Earth, you would be 50 Mercury years old!
