Fact of the Day Image Feb. 24th

Squirrels are small mammals that actually plant more trees in their life than humans do!! It is all because of a food-hiding habit!! Squirrels stock up food before winter. They eat nuts and acorns. They bury the nuts or acorns in the ground to keep them safe. When the squirrel is hungry, it digs up the acorns and nuts and eats them! They can do this during the winter when there is less food around. Sometimes, squirrels can bury the acorns and nuts and forget about them. Over time, the acorns start to grow into trees! That is how squirrels can plant a lot of trees!
