Your brain is able to fit inside of your skull, right? But, the brain unfolded will be about 3 feet long!! How does a 3 foot long brain fit inside of your head? It is because there are wrinkles in your brain. If you look at a human brain or a picture of it, you will see lots of wrinkles lining the surface. Those wrinkles are there because it increases the surface area of the brain, meaning that it can fit more things in it. Since the surface area is bigger than your skull, the brain has to be wrinkled to be able to fit in your skull.
