Mars has been hit with lots of asteroids! These collisions formed craters and sent tons of dust and rocks into the Martian atmosphere. Some collisions were so powerful that debris was forced out of Mars’ gravitational field altogether in a process called spallation. The pieces of debris floated through space until it got pulled in by Earth’s gravitational pull. Then, the debris landed on Earth casuing us to find them!!
