Fact of the Day Image Apr. 24th

When you smell a rose, you are actually smelling different molecules and scents at once creating the one smell of a rose! The human sense of smell is really complex! It’s not just your nose: it is actually a combination of your brain and your nose cells working together. It all starts with air. The air has a lot of smell molecules floating in it. When the air enters your nose, the different molecules activate special smell sensor cells in your nose and sends the information to the brain. The part of the brain that receives the signals is called the Olfactory Cortex. The Olfactory Cortex decodes that information and tells you what you are smelling!
