Hippopotamuses produce a special type of “sweat” that doubles as sunscreen! It is made out of red and orange pigment or color. The orange pigment absorbs Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the Sun. UV radiation is what causes sunburns. The hippo has its own suncreen to protect it from getting a sunburn!
