Fact of the Day Image August 31st

The scientist Edward Jenner created the smallpox vaccine because he noticed milkmaids had an immunity to it! This is because they were exposed to a similar but less severe virus called cowpox from the cows. This is why Edward Jenner created the smallpox vaccine using a less severe strain of virus. Since this discovery was made by using cows, Edward Jenner called it a vaccine!
