Pieces of plants that are cut off can still grow into new plants! You might think that these piece that are cut off of the main plant may not survive, but they do! They go into a dormant stage when they are cut off. If they are able to get nutrients, sunlight, and water during the dormant stage, they will survive. Otherwise, after months, they will start to die and decay. Many gardeners use clippings of plants to get new plants all the time!
