Fact of the Day Image December 24th

A reindeer’s eye color changes depending on the season! In the summer, their eyes are a gold color, while in the winter, they are a dark blue in color. Scientists believe that this is because of the lighting in the areas that the reindeer live in. In the summer months, the Sun is out most of the time, but in the winter, the Sun only comes up a few times in these cold, Northern areas. This causes the reindeer to dialate their pupils, which may cause this color change! Scientists are still digging up more information about this mysterious reindeer characteristic!
